An Associate’s degree, or a “two-year” degree, provides a valuable pathway to career enhancement, and provides an educational foundation which makes it easier to earn a Bachelor’s degree down the road. Earning an Associate’s degree online is a flexible, convenient, and innovative way to advance your career and improve your education. Traditionally, going to college requires a student to physically attend. This often requires relocating, or settling for a college because it is close to home. The advantages of technology now afford students the opportunity to attend college outside the confines of a traditional college, and earn a degree online. As the popularity of earning a degree online increases, more traditional colleges are joining online-only colleges in offering educations over the Internet, presenting students with broader educational options, not to mention flexibility and convenience.

In order to land that promotion you’ve worked so hard for, or attain the career of your dreams, it’s often necessary to have some type of secondary education. There are many advantages to earning your Associate’s degree online. Receiving your Associate’s degree online allows you to achieve your career goals at your own pace, without interfering with your current work commitments. You need not live locally to attend the college of your choosing. Attending courses and submitting coursework online eliminates the need for commuting or relocating. Convenience is another plus in earning a degree online. A college may offer more sections of popular courses at many convenient times, including nights and weekends, allowing you more options as to when to attend class. This allows you more flexibility, and is ideal if you work full time and/or care for a family. In addition, who wouldn’t find it appealing to attend college from the comforts of home?

There are many types of Associate’s degrees you can learn online. There is certainly a degree to suit every educational and professional need. Some of these programs include General Education, Information Technology, Paralegal Studies, Business, Healthcare, and various professional certificates. These are but a few of the programs available to study online. Most of these programs are offered at fully accredited colleges that are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, which is a necessity if you have prior college credits that you wish to transfer, if you intend to continue at another college in order to receive a Bachelor’s degree, or if you want your degree recognized by your employer and any professional organizations you are affiliated with.

You might be worried about affording an online Associate’s degree. Often, financial aid is available to online students in the form of grants, loans, and even scholarships. Also, many employers may be willing to pay for part or all of your tuition and fees. After all, investing in your education is investing in the firm’s future as well.

The misconception of receiving your Associate’s degree online is that the experience might not be as enriching or legitimate as attending face-to-face classes at a traditional college. In fact, continuing your education online might help to facilitate the learning process as well as develop time management and self-motivation skills. With the prevalence of the Internet and advancements such as teleconferencing in both education and the business world today, it is possible to come away from the experience not only with a degree, but also with greater knowledge and comfort with technology, which could prove to enhance your career as well. Some Universities Now Accept Community College Credits For Online Degree Programs

Edit Article | Posted: Jan 19, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

The number of students who enroll in online college courses has grown over 800% in the last 9 years. Not surprisingly, online enrollment in college degree programs rose by over one million students in 2010 ” and that number is expected to continue to rise.

Online education, sometimes referred to as distance learning, provides a chance for non-traditional student ” such as those who must raise children or work a full-time job ” to further their education on a convenient and usually flexible schedule. Those who succeed will earn a degree or certificate and give themselves a chance to find a better paying job or to receive a promotion within their current company.

Until now, if a student held an associate’s degree from a community college, they would have to seek their bachelor’s degree from schools like Kaplan, Phoenix or ITT Tech. While these schools are accredited and will provide a quality education, a lot of students believe that they will gain more prestige and possibly land better positions if they earn their degree from traditional 4 year universities, i.e. Harvard, Stanford or University of “insert your State here”.

In an endeavor to help these non-traditional students earn their bachelor’s degrees online, community colleges across America are initiating credit transfer agreements with the larger universities. This allows holders of associate’s degrees to transfer their credits to a quality online four year degree program at an accredited, well-respected university.

And if traditional, “big name” universities are not your style, there’s no need to lose sleep over it. Technical colleges across the country are now giving their students the opportunity to earn a four year degree online as well. So the opportunities are there. In fact, they’re plentiful.

If you have been thinking about getting your four year degree online, the ball is now in your court and it’s up to you to seek out and find the four year online school that is best for you. Take your time and do your due diligence. Remember that there are a lot of websites out there that will trick you out of your personal information and give you nothing in return.

Degree Mill is only profit organization offering its customers a degree without any academic knowledge. It is not recognized by any of the official education accreditation bodies thus resulting in lack of authenticity. Degree Mills and its consumers are both equally harmful to the society, one for selling the degree to a non knowledgeable person and other purchasing it in order to practice a profession. For a profession like a doctor or engineer the degree acts hazardous to the society. But when a person uses this degree as his road towards terrorism it is yet more hazardous.

According to the U.S reports the 9/11 fallouts used these degrees to acquire the aviation training with a very little or no problem to enter US. The Rochville University was exposed by the CNN network in their report in late 2005; the university provided a master’s degree in chemistry to a student named Abu Salsabil Hassan Omar who turned out to a terrorist of the militant Al Qaeda terror group, it on the contrary helped him out to sustain in U.S. While checking the limits of the Degree Mills a secret agent sent application to James Manroe University (which no longer exists) as Syrian person who couldn’t sustain himself in Syrian army but is experienced chemical weapon specialist and requires a degree to fulfill his credentials and stay back in U.S. $1200 was the only demand by the university, no questions were asked nor did they demand any documented proof.

Rochville University advertises itself as accredited by Board of Online Universities Accreditation and World Online Education Accreditation Commission which are not recognized in the U.S. The university has no physical location and operates only on internet without any traces to follow.

It is very easy for the consumers to acquire bogus degrees in order to gain access to high level jobs or further education. These degrees also help in safeguarding the driving license in some countries. Hamilton University, yet another degree mill have provided hundred of bogus degrees to the federal workers. The department of Homeland Security has one of its high level CIO exposed with her bogus degree. The state of Wyoming has put an end to the operations of Hamilton University.

Internet is the only operating medium through which these bogus degrees float from one part of the world to another. The masters of Chemistry degree for an amount of some dollars must have easily infiltrated Abu Salsabil Hassan Omar from UAE to US. The degree mills are only visible on Internet and thus making it harder to curb their operations.

Degree mills being only profit organization have not yet recognized the threat they are imposing on the society, they are also the part of. It is said that education is the key to success the terrorist are slowly realizing the power of a education, that can be used to enlighten the society is used as the most destructive weapon against the society but with the key element absent, the key element called ‘knowledge’
